Smart Equipment for Smarter Cricketers
Smart equipment’ is a major trend in sports, especially in the equipment that is the central focus of the game. From Hockey pucks to Rugby Balls to Football / Soccer Balls, this goes across sports.
In Cricket, the game is centered around the bat and the ball.
In this article, we take a look at companies that are incorporating sensors in or around these two main pieces of cricket gear. As with any other sport, capture and analysis of this data allows cricketers to track and improve their performance over time.

⚽ The Premier League promises a new stat-focused simulcast of live matches through their Data Zone product, in partnership with Genius Sports.
👨💻 LaLiga Tech, the joint venture between LaLiga and Globant, has rebranded as Sportian to come out from under the LaLiga umbrella and establish themselves as a global tech solutions provider for sports.
🎆 Newcastle United sponsor Sela staged a pretty cool drone show above St. James’ Park to celebrate European football returning to the Geordie Shore
🏈 Washington DC based Gallaudet University, the preeminent college for deaf and hard-of-hearing people, announced a very cool collaboration with AT&T to provide “the first 5G-connected football helmet”. Built with the intention of “making the game more inclusive by enhancing on-field communication for student-athletes who use American Sign Language.”

💰 French Web3 based fantasy rugby platform Oval3 raised €2.5 million
💰 NYC-based Front Office Sports, media outlet covering the business of sports, received an investment from ReadBird IMI
💰 Tixserve, the Irish digital event ticketing startup, has secured €300k in new funding
