Whitepaper on 5G in Sports: Summary and Update
In June 2022, working together with SportsTechX, the DFL published a Whitepaper titled “5G in Sports”.
The lightning-fast speeds and ultra-low latency that 5G allows has already had a major impact on the sports industry. This trend will only continue as further technological development fuels more innovation.
As an innovation leader in professional sport, the DFL wanted to provide an overview of the most relevant applications & opportunities and summarise the expected effects on the sports industry.
As an update, we’ve summarised the original paper and also added recent practical use cases to show how the DFL has used this tech to deliver a better, more efficient sports experience.

Teamworks wins the ‘Most Innovative Supplier’ at WFS awards
This is the 5th year that SportsTechX will present the Most Innovative Supplier award at the World Football Summit Awards.
The three finalists this year were:
Teamworks: The Operating System for Sports
International Sports Groundbreakers Challenge by GSIC Microsoft
Gol Mundial: The World Cup for everyone by MEDIAPRO
All very worthy winners but in the end the jury decided that Teamworks deserved this award for their incredible growth and suite of innovative digital solutions that help sports organizations and athletes.
